Dear Mr. Shortridge:

I feel a bit like I’m being made out to be a scapegoat. And so, you know, I guess I would like to say that, you know, if any mistakes were made they were inadvertent. And quite frankly being a full-time employee of the company I worked for, the company I owned, and raising money for the Party I wasn’t there every day all day watching every single thing that came through, okay?

I feel as though that I haven’t done anything wrong and in fact the only regret that I have is I wish that maybe I should have consulted different attorneys, made sure the recount stuff was better handled. But, there was no attempt to deceive, no attempt to, you know, as I said if the lawyers had said do it a different way we would have done it a different way.

Again I don’t want to throw anybody under the bus, but a lot of this stuff was a surprise to me. I thought things had been taken care of or handled. I just expected it when I said to get it taken care of it would be taken care of.

I don’t have a lot of regrets about it. We’re whatever, a million bucks in debt, versus billions of dollars in tax increases. I’d trade that any day of the week.
