An ensemble Spotty award
“Accepting pennies on the dollar from outsiders and colonizers”
Here’s one of the pithiest sentences in the latest Spotty™ winner:
Since when do we fancy ourselves a Banana Republic, accepting pennies on the dollar from outsiders and colonizers?
This is from a submission in the Community Voices section of MinnPost by JT Haines of St. Paul; Lee Markell, Eagan; Dylan Nau, New Brighton; and Ijaz Osman, of Elk River.
The commentary is about, perhaps obviously, the prospect that a pair of Canadian companies, PolyMet and Duluth Metals (which is not from Duluth), will be permitted to despoil the BWCAW forever.
It’s a terrific piece, and it wins a Spotty™, because a Spotty™ is awarded to the author(s) of an op-ed piece, letter to the editor, blog post or blog comment that I wish I had written myself.
Thanks for your feedback. If we like what you have to say, it may appear in a future post of reader reactions.
